Instructors on or in the loop (HITL)

Wherever possible, Harmony Arts, LLC recommends having an instructor review the use of the AI Red Queen Davinci Platform before used by learners or participants in a simulation or application. This is especially critical in high-stakes domains, and for code generation. Instructors and users should be aware of the limitations of the system, and have access to any information needed to verify the outputs (for example, if the application summarizes instructional material and objectives, an instructor should have easy access to the original notes to refer back). Before usage of the AI Red Queen Davinci Platform for any purpose an instructor should provide initial orientation to the usage of the AI Red Queen Davinci Platform and highlight what can be expected from its use, limitations, and best practices. Be aware that generative AI language models can produce what is known as ‘hallucinating’ inaccurate information, to offensive outputs, to bias, and much more, language models may not be suitable for every use case without significant modifications through prompt engineering. Consider whether the AI Red Queen Davinci Platform is a good fit for your instructional purpose.

Prompt engineering by instructors and SMEs

“Prompt engineering” can help constrain the topic and tone of output text by the AI Red Queen Davinci Platform for situational/contextual domain applications. This reduces the chance of producing undesired content, even if a user tries to produce it. Providing additional context to the model (such as by giving a few high-quality examples of desired behavior prior to the new input) can make it easier to steer model outputs in desired directions.
